Chapter History
You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every chapter of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today. Read more about our chapters’ histories in Kappa's digital archives.
The Beta Theta chapter at the University of Oklahoma was first founded as Sigma Tau Omega in 1912. After petitioning Kappa Kappa Gamma, we became the Beta Theta chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma in August of 1914. Six strong women helped lead the movement to become a Kappa chapter. Since 1914, we have enjoyed our time at the University of Oklahoma and in our home at 700 College Avenue.
